Tips |
Vinyl
seating is
extremely
durable and
easy to
clean. Mild
soap and
warm water
will remove
most common
spills and
dirt. If
necessary a
soft brush
can be used
to remove
stains in
the grain of
the vinyl.
Some
stubborn
stains may
require
additional
treatment.
Below are a
few common
problems and
suggested
treatments.
Paint
Latex based
paints can
be cleaned
with soap,
water and a
brush
similar to
everyday
soils. Oil
based
paints,
however,
need more
attention.
It should be
cleaned as
soon as
possible
with a soft
cloth and
Naptha. Do
not use
paint
thinner or
brush
cleaner as
they may
damage the
material.
Gum
Remove as
much gum as
possible and
clean with
Naptha or
Kerosene on
a soft
cloth. If
gum does not
come up, try
using ice to
harden it
and separate
it from the
material.
This
treatment
also works
for wax.
Nail Polish
Nail polish
and nail
polish
remover will
immediately
damage
vinyl, wipe
clean as
soon as
possible.
Ink
Ink will
immediately
change vinyl
pigment and
is difficult
to clean. As
soon as
possible
apply a
mixture of
rubbing
alcohol and
water to the
stain. Rub
gently with
a soft
absorbent
cloth to
soak up the
stain. If
rubbing
alcohol is
not
immediately
available
many
hairsprays
contain
alcohol and
can be used
as a quick
fix.
Petroleum
All
petroleum
base
products
will stain
vinyl if
allowed to
sit. Clean
ASAP with a
soft cloth
and Naptha
or Kerosene.
California
Technical
Bulletin
#133
California
Technical
Bulletin
#133 is a
flammability
test
required by
the State of
California
for all
upholstered
material
sold or
offered for
sale/use in
hotels,
motels,
restaurants
and other
places of
public
accommodation.
Cal 133
requires a
composite
test of all
components
together to
simulate
realistic
fire
conditions. |
